Bull Terrier - Medium - Adult - Male - Dog - Head-Needs Sponsor
Description
UPDATE Head is doing well! He is still very OCD but physically well. Due to his intense issues, we have decided to make him a permanent resident. 5/22/09 Head is very sick and may need surgery. He has 2 foreign objects in his digestive system. One in his small intestines and something much larger in his stomach. Yesterdays x-rays, etc were $200, today ? and emergency surgery over the holiday weekend could easily reach $1,500. Anyone interested in helping with some of his vet bills, please call (843)817-2367, email or use go through paypal link on our website. Any help would be appreciated. Due to neglect, Head was confiscated from his owners. He was in very poor health weighing only 23lbs at about 14mths old. He had a number of wounds including a broken leg. He had no manners at all and was EXTREMELY mouthy!! (Bull Terriers are a mouthy breed in general.) Since he entered our rescue, we had a plate put in his leg to help it heal properly. Medical attention, a proper diet and lots of love have helped this little Ox come a long way. He is now about 63lbs and very healthy. Even though there is a dramatic difference in Heads behavior, he can still be rough at times. His adopting family must agree to getting additional training for Head. This consists of working with a professional obedience dog trainer that uses positive reinforcement. Head is crate trained and house trained. He cannot be left alone unless he is confined to his crate!!! Head will eat ANYTHING! If it fits in his mouth, he will swallow it. (Not unusual for the Bull Terrier Breed). This is extremely dangerous! Whatever he swallows can become lodged in the opening of his stomach or in his intestines. Meaning, it will block anything else from passing through. If the object can not be passed, it must be surgically removed. This procedure is very costly but death will occur without it!! Head has been blocked before by an object he swallowed. We were very lucky he was able to pass it. Even so, we still had a $387 vet bill for x-rays alone. Please research this Breed before applying. They are not for everyone! You must have a secure fenced in yard! Must be an indoor dog! We are asking for a minimum of $1000 donation towards Heads vet bills. We have spent over $3500 in vet bills alone. This does not include food($45 a bag), heartworm preventative($18 month), Easy Walk Harness($30), crate, leash, vitamins, bullie proof toys(A LOT), time(priceless), etc... 12/2008 Update Head has turned out be a great dog. One more thing: We Do Not Ship Any Of Our Animals! Please email us for an application or go to our homepage and copy our application into a word document.
